One Week to Destressing and becoming Relaxed


Destress and Relax

They say there's more than one way to skin a cat. The same goes when you start tearing your hair out with all the frustration, grief, anxiety, and yes, stress. It's a state of mental conditioning that is like taking that bitter pill down your throat, causing you to lose your sense of self, and worse your sanity. What you need is to destress and relax.

I know how it feels, and believe me there are many variants when it comes to stress. Coping with life, and carrying the problems that may or may not belong to you can scratch away the little
joy and happiness that you can carry once you head out that door. So I decided to look differently at what we call stress and life. To look differently at destressing and relaxing and find what was necessary in order for me to destress and relax.

There are several ways to manage stress, and eventually remove it out of your life. So I'll try to divide it into a seven-day course for you and I promise it's not going to be too taxing on the body, as well as on the mind.


1. Thinking of Stress in a Good way!

Make stress your friend! If you look at stress as a signal to you to focus or refocus dependent on your situation it can become less of a demon and more of a signal to change. Based on the body's natural "fight or flight" response, that burst of energy will enhance your performance at the right moment and can help you when you are in need, so it it not just a "negative" response. When you look at stress in this manner it helps you put back into focus relaxation and peace and is Step 1 in learning how to destress and relax.

2. Avoid unnecessary stress: other stressed people who are out of control with their stress and gravitate to other people who are able to destress and relax.

You start becoming who you hang around. Reading this article will make you aware of why your stressing and how to cope with it. Being around other stressed people will get you stressed again beware by switching your perspective on the world and looking at the stresses rather than the joy's.

Protect yourself by recognizing stress in others and limiting your contact with them. Or if you've got the inclination, play stress doctor and teach them how to destress and relax by better managing themselves.

3. Learn from the best

When people around are losing their head, who keeps calm? What are they doing differently? What is their attitude? What language do they use? Are they trained and experienced? How do they destress and relax? Figure it out from afar or sit them down for a chat. Learn from the best stress managers and copy what they do.

4. Make a conscious effort to destress and relax: Take Deep Breathes Regularly

It's an inborn de-stressing system we all have. Just try it right now, take three to four really deep breathes using the diaphragm to really expand your lungs. It works instantly. every time you feel that stress coming breath like this until things start to feel more normal. Watch how this helps you destress and relax, notice how more able to cope you feel.

5. FEAR - let it go!

Along with Stress comes unrealistic fears like when a childs lack of experience dictates something new will be something to fear i.e. a new school a new party to go to = anxiety and stress.
However, applying this simple rule should help you destress and relax with unrealistic fears.

Everytime you find worrying about things remember that they are false fears, make the decision to destress, relax and acknowledge the truth of the situation.

6. Know your buttons that push you towards stress

You should make mental notes of what starts your patterns off and what you need to do to recognise this early so that you can be aware of it and control your mind and stress levels. It's easy to do and will stop you well before it's too late.

Make your own list of stress trigger points or hot spots. Be specific. Is it only presentations to a certain audience that get you worked up? Does one project cause more stress than another? Did you drink too much coffee?
Knowing what causes you stress is powerful information, as you can take action to make it less stressful. Do you need to learn some new skills? Do you need extra resources? Do you need to switch to decaf? What do you need to change to destress and relax?

 

7. Don't burn the candle at both ends

You can control how much sleep, food and exercise you get. Never compromise these wonderful things. Exercise and sleep alone can turn depressed people around from the serotonin and endorphin release it causes so again use these natural remedies to maintain your health.

So you can choose to destress and relax and learn to use stress to your advantage. Use your intuition, gut feelings and listen to your body so that you can stay healthy and destress and relax with confidence.
