Different Forms of Meditation

Different forms of Meditation

There are no special tricks to meditating; no special posture or breathing rhythm is required. Once you have got the knack of it you can meditate anywhere during any activity.

Sometimes meditation opens a door into the mysteries of creation. Do not become discouraged if you have tried to meditate in the past and not received any remarkable results.

Meditation is a practiced process and it may take awhile to learn how to quiet your mind and open yourself to all the present moment has to offer you.

There are many different forms of meditation and many different ways in which you can choose to meditate. Find what works best for you if you are a beginner to meditation and then explore the different types of meditation and the different benefits they bring.

When I began meditating it took a level of discipline because initially I found it hard to quiet my mind. But it didn’t take long before I started going into other levels of consciousness and was able to quiet my mind enough to explore avenues that I wanted to.

When you first start learning to meditate I would recommend trying a couple of types of meditation. Candle meditation - with the intention of quieting your mind and a visualisation meditation. There are many different types of visualisation meditations and you can find them on audio, video on in text form to follow.

One of my first meditations began while sitting on a beach. My hands were sandy. I rubbed my thumb and forefinger together feeling the grains of sand between them slipping away until only a single grain of sand remained.

I could feel the shape of the grain of sand distinctly as I rolled it back and forth between my thumb and forefinger.

The longer I rolled the grain of sand about the more defined my awareness of the grain of sand became. The more detailed my experience of the grain of sand became the larger it appeared to be.

While I could clearly feel the tiny grain of sand trapped between my thumb and finger roll about across the grooves and ridges of my fingerprints the grain of sand appeared to be growing larger and larger as I contemplated it. The grain of sand continued to grow, encompassing the beach and then the world. Before long the grain of sand had grown to an infinite size and it now encompassed all of creation; yet I still held the tiny grain of sand between my thumb and forefinger, rolling it about across the grooves and ridges of my fingerprints.

The sand spoke to me of eternity. It told me tales about creation and the infinite nature of our existence in creation. From the grain of sand I learned that every tiniest part of creation is a living being experiencing creation and sharing in the process whereby creation makes everything manifest..

My meditation with a grain of sand always produced a feeling of intense bliss. It was an eternal meditation that transcended the time and place where it began to continue throughout all of creation. From time to time I would return to this meditation, engrossed by the wisdom and experience of a single tiny grain of sand.

But that is just one experience - you can take yourself anywhere that you want to go in meditation. I often imagine that I am in a lush green field with a beautiful tress which I now see as my place, it’s on a hill top with beautiful views of mountains and countryside. I can feel the sun against by skin and the breeze through my hair and as I breath I feel more and more relaxed and loved - what comes with this is an intense feeling of happiness and peace. Often in meditation I am visited at this place by a beautiful brown horse and the connection to the horse and the surroundings only grows the energy stronger.

When you start meditating, focus on your breathing and relax. Just allow yourself to relax and consciously allow your body parts to individually relax until you can no longer feel them as you did before. Allow passing thoughts to come and go drifting out of your mind. Focus on the energy of peace and happiness that you can feel and allow it to expand. Experiment with Meditation. It’s full of wonderful experiences.

Experiment with meditation, there are many different keys to meditation but meditating should be enjoyable.
